A mid 20th Century Arts and Crafts style pierced silver butter dish, with glass liner, the pierced border set with with four blue and green enamel flowerhead roundels.

John Ferguson Gow was a dentist and an accomplished silversmith and enameller who worked in the Arts & Crafts style.
Much of his work was unusually carried out during the second World War when he was in his late 50's. He died in 1970 aged 84. A number of his pieces can be found in London churches such as St James's in Piccadilly.
