Silver Sovereign Cases

Sometimes combined with vesta cases, sovereign cases were used to store sovereigns, which have a nominal value of £1 sterling yet store value as bullion coins. Modern sovereigns were first made by the Royal Mint in 1817 and are made from a 22 carat gold alloy. Antique silver sovereign cases were therefore made throughout the nineteenth and twentieth centuries not only to store the sovereigns but also to proudly display these prized coins in all their glory. Here at Steppes Hill Farm Antiques we have a range of antique silver sovereign cases available for sale, and we are glad to offer advice on any of the items in our collection.
