An fine cased set of three early 19th century gold Studs, each one inset with a miniature watercolour painting under glass, depicting Wellington, Napoleon and Nelson. Complete with original fitted silk and velvet lined Morocco red leather case, a slip of paper in the lid describing the studs as; ""Painted by Freeman, London"", probably referring to Samuel Freeman, Engraver of London c1805.

Artist associated with 79 portraits
Samuel Freeman was a London-based engraver. He studied under Francesco Bartolozzi, and one of his earliest independent portraits was that of Garrick, after Sir Joshua Reynolds, published in 1807. He specialised in stipple engraving and in crayon portraits. Other works by Freeman include a Holy Family, engraved from an original by Correggio, and a Madonna, after Raphael.
