An early 20th century Continental silver and enamel novelty Propelling Pencil made in the form of an Obelisk or 'Cleopatra's Needle'. The body engraved with hieroglyphics highlighted in dark blue enamel, the pull out telescopic gold cased pencil with square silver base.
Probably made in Germany c1900, but also possibly made in Egypt in the 1920's, following the discovery of the tomb of Tutankhamen. The silver jump ring to the top stamped - 800, for .800 standard silver.
