A superb George II 22 carat gold (tested) Baby's Rattle, all over chased and embossed Rococo shell and scroll decoration including flower heads and four naked putti, two tiers each supporting four bells and terminating in a thick coral teething stick, the whistle engraved with a crest - out of a ducal coronet a griffin's head - that of several families.
London c1745. Makers mark poorly struck but possibly that of Sandilands Drinkwater.
