A rare early George III Provincial silver Wine Label of unusual plain escutcheon form with a waved edge, pierced for Claret in large letters and engraved below the name with a widow's crest for the Snowe family.
Unmarked c1770.
A similar pair were sold by Sothebys at the Sykes of Sledmore sale in 1979. Since most of the Sykes labels were from the North Country, this label could be York or district. See: The WLCJ vo06no07. June 1979.
