An extremely rare George IV silver double open ended pen and pencil combination with Bramah type nib holder, the plain cylindrical body with reeded decoration. Stamped Mordan & Co. Patent. The nib holder stamped S.Mordan’s improv’d. Also clearly hallmarked with the ‘S.M’ makers mark and date letter ‘h’ for London 1823.

This is the earliest recorded date for a Mordan pencil and precedes the Riddle partnership for 1824. Complete with associated but not original leather case.
