A rare Victorian novelty silver combined Propelling Pencil and Letter Opener, made in the form of an Officers Dress Sword and Scabbard , the pencil concealed within the sword handle with a slider button to propel.
Marked with 'S M' makers mark and stamped S Mordan & Co and engraved with a diamond registration mark for 1878.
