A rare Victorian novelty silver Vinaigrette formed as a Watchman's (Charlie's) Lantern, with two tier fluted domed top and suspension ring, sprung push-button opening mechanism to the glass Scent Bottle, glass panels with mock opening door to the body, the plain base opening to the vinaigrette with silver gilt lift-out grille.

Stamped with a diamond registration mark for 8th September 1869.

Retailed by Ortner & Houle, London, c1869.
