A fine quality Victorian silver Vinaigrette formed as a Book, based on the novel Paul & Virginie (Paul & Virginia) by Jacques-Henri Bernardin de Saint-Pierre, the covers divided into a pattern of shaped panels engraved with foliate motifs around a central panel with a scene of a couple in 18th century dress sitting together in the foreground with a ship in the distance. The back cover with a panel decorated with a rose spray. The spine of the book engraved with the title - Paul & Virginia. The silver gilt interior with scroll pierced grille.
