A rare Victorian silver double-sided "Castle-Top" Card Case of rectangular form, both sides pierced and chased with scrolls, leaves and flower heads above and below high relief panels depicting Warwick Castle and Kenilworth Castle ruins from the west. Hinged lid and moulded sides. The lid engraved with the contemporary owners name - M.Bacon.

This is a rare view of Kenilworth Castle, taken from the west, and was probably inspired by the painting by J.M.W.Turner c1830.
Turner’s Kenilworth Castle scene was also subsequently engraved by Robert Wallis in 1832 for his "Picturesque Views in England and Wales".

Provenance: Purchased from M.McAleer, Wigmore Street, London in 1972.
