A good quality Victorian silver twin compartment Stamp Box of rectangular form with individually opening lids holding French 5 Centimes green and 15 Centimes blue 'Peace & Commerce' Stamps in framed glazed compartments. The silver gilt interiors with sloping bases.
Almost certainly by Cohen & Charles, Chester, 1897. The makers mark covered by two French Weevil small guarantee marks.
Cohen & Charles were the sole English agents for the leading French firm of Baudet Freres & Cie
Victorian/Edwardian silver Stamp Boxes with individually opining hinged lids are quite scarce.
